Another new arrival at Gallery 18 in New London, P.E.I. This one is a wonderful watercolour painting by the noted Canadian WWII artist G. Campbell Tinning. In xxxx, the Saskatchewan born Montreal based artist traveled to the island. He did a series of paintings including views of Province House, Great George Street, Green Gables, and this one - the Souris light. When Tinning was interviewed in The Guardian, he described Prince Edward Island as "the most paintable part of the country. It has an atmosphere and charm which is quite different from the bigness of the remainder of Canada" He was amazed that artists haven't painted it more.
